The intersection of philanthropy, innovation, and public school transformation.

The DC Ed Fund connects philanthropy with DCPS’ boldest and most cutting-edge ideas. We’ve raised over $191M in private dollars to innovate the way kids learn, how and what teachers teach, and what’s ultimately possible for an urban public school district.

We envision a future where every DCPS student reaches their full potential.

Our mission is to connect private donors with the district’s highest-priority, and most innovative design solutions for kids.

The DC Public Education Fund was founded in 2007 to help DC Public Schools address its most pressing challenges through organized philanthropy. As an independent organization, our team raises significant private dollars that incubate cutting-edge start-up ideas for students. We are DCPS’ very own venture fund.

A history of high-impact outcomes.

We’re not afraid to take calculated risks in pursuit of better student experiences.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

From its inception, it has been DC Ed Fund’s policy to hire employees and provide them with opportunities to grow, develop, and contribute to the organization’s success without regard to race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

As DC Ed Fund has grown in its DEI journey, we have become more conscious of the ways in which racism, systemic oppression, and discrimination factor into our workstreams and that hiring “without regard” can be just as harmful a practice. We take an unequivocal anti-racist stance in everything that we do and strive to create a workplace that embraces and celebrates all aspects of identity and the positive they bring. We encourage all DC Ed Fund employees to bring their whole authentic selves to work.
